In Istanbul, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter.
Quick Review:
Taken 1 + Drama = Taken 2.
This film tries to do too much. You have to wade through drama to get to the ass kicking as it takes 27 minutes for the first Arab to be punched in the face. The movie is 1 1/2 hours long. Why does it take 50 minutes for the action to start?
I've come to the conclusion that Liam Neeson hates Arabs like Steven Segal hates Jamaicans.
The story is as follows:
The wife and daughter had planned a trip to China, that was canceled when she divorced Stewart. (Turns out it really wasn't the time for dick measuring). They decide to join Neeson for three days in Istanbul, as his insistence as he is working a job there. The families of the Arabs who were killed in the first film, have decided and concocted a plan to take him and his family in retaliation. On his first night out with the family, they are taken (dun dun daaa) and finally the film can begin.
Essentially they trade off his daughter for his ex as the one that needs to be rescued and by the time he's ready to rescue her, he's magically donned a bad ass leather coat and he's ready for war. While taken 2 picks up about 6 months after Taken, it is in no way that much different. Right down to the end Kung-Fu fight with the obviously capable 2nd in command.
And of course they left the door open for Taken 3 aka "How do they keep getting Taken?!"
Gee, I sure hope we don't get Taken...Again.

A blatant cash grab sequel which only leaves me with one burning question: why they didn't title the film "Taken, Too"?
Violence? Yes
Explosions? Yes
Nudity? No
