While clearing a house for supplies, a man is infected with the disease after a mutant is shot and explodes in his face. His wife, being an EMT packs him up and rushes off to get some space to fix him. She tells him that he has about three days, maybe less before he turns and tries to keep him alive and delay the inevitable while waiting for rescue. The tension increases as 4 other dangerous survivors find them, but despite all of that, it doesn't really get any better or worse until the end as their fortress is besieged by mutants and it becomes a true fight for survival.
Mutants was dull. It just seemed like not a lot was happening. This movie stuck to the standard script and didn't defer. What I did notice was the violent transformation for infected folk. It just looked rough.
I guess that's their contribution to the genre?
