Unthinkable

 In a very extreme version of Good Cop Bad Cop, How far is too far when you are looking to get results?

Unthinkable is a drama/psychological thriller that explores both sides of the controversial topic of torture.

 
Representing Torturing is a valid method of interrogation:

Sam Jackson plays a chief torture interrogator, who understands that its war, and he does what must be done to protect his country. There are no innocents and the job is not done until its done.

AND

Representing Torturing is illegal and unethical:

Trinity(Carrie-Anne Moss) stars as the tough as nails cop on the side of  "good" aka torture is wrong and it is unconstitutional/illegal aka the right side of law.

The Issue:

Yousef, a former US explosives specialist who converted to Islam and became a terrorist. He decides to blow up America for political reasons and has put 3 nuclear bombs in 3 different cities. He's been trained to withstand torture, but finding those bombs and getting information is the focus of the movie.

When it seems like Yousef will not crack, the last ditch effort is to bring in his wife and children for interrogation. They call Sam Jackson evil and remark that he must be stopped, his response is, "How is the
torturer evil when the terrorist is the one who blatantly destroys lives?"

Unthinkable is a solid movie that gets involved in some really heavy shit. It is deep, thought provoking and It begs the question, "When, if ever, is torturing ever justified?" No lie, despite the title, this movie will make you think. The Torture techniques are no joke and they make no real effort to hide the brutality or their disgust. On the other end, the gov't makes no effort to stop the process as they acknowledge that it gets results.
