Out for a Kill

The Chinese mafia has plans to merge and become a conglomerate. On a dig, an Archeologist discovers their smuggling operation, and they seek to eliminate him. (So, in this flick, Steven Seagal stars as an archaeologist? I'm in. The plot doesn't matter, that premise alone was ridiculous enough to get me to watch.)


Later in the film, it is revealed that Seagal's character was once one of the greatest thieves in China but turned over a new leaf after prison. That still doesn't explain his skill set, but it makes the archaeology thing easier to swallow. Also, there was a scene with a barber who uses Monkey Style Kung-Fu, that nearly sunk the movie into "even worse" territory.

Overall, Out for a Kill is not only longer than it needs to be, it is also 2003 film which shows its age by using bullet time technology. But this movie was on the Seagal comeback tour, so use of older tech is expected,
somewhat. The dialogue is terrible, but who watches Seagal for the dialogue? Outside of that, it is a decent if not serviceable flick and despite what anyone says, its actually good to see Steven Seagal again. The comedy he provides is top-notch.


Violence? Lemme see..here, they killed his assistant, framed him and blew up his home and killed his wife? Yup. You can expect blood and broken bones.
Explosions? No.
Nudity? Titty. Titty. Titty.
