Turning the zombie film on its head, this film is an oddball comedy from the perspective of the brain munching monsters themselves.
As is customary in these films, the gov't is responsible for the zombie outbreak, (of course) but the events in this film, in a twist, are told from the zombies' P.O.V.
After unknowingly ingesting toxic waste from a failed gov't super soldier formula, a group of four friends become zombified. The fun is in the fact that they have no idea what's happened. They try to make their way through the world and eventually form a colony with others.
Clever writing saved this flick. It was explained that zombies have slower brain waves, which explains their slowness and mumbling. The black and white and color switches further push the plot from the zombie and real world perspectives, respectively.
The character Mike is one of the better comic relief characters I've seen in quite some time. The first to actually accept his condition, he embraces it, including eating brains and turning others.
"Do you think Mexican brains taste like salsa?...Ooh, picante!"
Overall, this was actually a pretty interesting flick. No one ever thinks about things from the zombies' view. But personally, I would have liked to see it done better, but I wasn't too disappointed with what I saw.

It was low budget. But decent. Good concept. That dude Mike made that movie.
Violence? Yes. This is still a zombie movie at heart.
Explosions? Yes. Self-sacrifice style.
Nudity? No. not even gratuitously. For shame.
