Documentary follows the Canadian Metal band, Anvil, on a European tour and as They try to raise the money to complete their 13th album. By proxy, it also Provides a look into their lives both before the music and now.
Anvil has been together for nearly 20 years. Rock is their life and they live it without any of the fanfare their brethren receive. But the work on this album is assumed to be their absolute last ditch effort to reach fame and fortune. The film frames their struggle as "make or break," as no one says or admits it, but this is more than likely their last big chance.

Anvil is basically the story of two friends, the band they formed, and the fame/money they seek to validate all they've been through and sacrificed. I seriously didn't even know that Anvil was real. I had to look them up. 14 studio albums to date and they are credited as the influence for many of the great metal bands today. They feel that they haven't had good production or management and that's probably true. Where they once played stadiums and arenas they now play dive bars and small clubs.
Thing is, they love playing and the band is their life. As their situation unfolds, The film becomes a study in perseverance. By the end you'll want to see anvil succeed because anvil wants and needs to succeed.
