In this anime movie, a war survivor is brought to utopia and discovers she holds the key to the survival of the Bioroid race.
Appleseed is an example of animated badassery. We are introduced to Deunan who is immediately revealed to be one badass soldier. Her former partner Briareos is equally badass, and in one scene, tore the arm off of a cyber-woman and beat her with it.
As we head towards the climax, the story gets tighter. Truths are revealed, Lines are drawn, and people are betrayed. The action picks up as well.

This flick is pretty good overall, and the story starts slow and builds steam towards the end. The only issue I found is when the movie introduced the mechanical battle suits. I just don't see the appeal of humans fighting each other in giant robot suits. Anyway, In the suit, Deunen is badass, but def not as badass as before she put it on. But luckily, that didn't kill the entire movie for me.
Appleseed visuals are a mix of Cell shading and CG and it looks fantastic. To me, the it has a "realer" feel than most animated movies. Again, the story is good, but when you include the visuals and the badassery of its two main characters this flick is worth a watch.
Violence? Yes
Explosions? Yup. Especially when the mech suits appear
Nudity? No. A few bra and panty shots though.
