During the final days at the Yankee Pedlar Inn, two employees determined to reveal the hotel's haunted past begin to experience disturbing events as old guests check in for a stay.
Two young employees of a closing in, dabble in Paranormal research. They make it their mission to capture footage of the woman that is supposedly haunting the joint before it closes for good. They get help from an actor turned psychic who claims she is able to speak as a medium. During a brief seance, she speaks of three spirits, and is warned by them to not go into the basement.
Up one night, drunk and bored work the lack of action, they decide to go into the basement. There they try to have a seance and contact their whale. Shit gets real and they go their separate ways as one does the only true reaction and makes those moves while the other makes the standard movie reaction and stays to death.
The innkeepers is a ghost story in four parts. character introduction, first paranormal contact, final contact and an epilogue. Each part is integral for setting up the next, however as a whole, it all falls flat. The Innkeepers is not really interesting at all and as far as the paranormal genre goes, offers nothing that hasn't already been seen. One positive, I liked the theme, that worked really well.
