Soon after her divorce, a fiction writer returns to her home in small-town Minnesota, looking to rekindle a romance with her ex-boyfriend, who is now happily married and has a newborn daughter.
After receiving an email announcing the birth of her HS sweethearts child, a woman packs up and heads back to her old town to try and win him back. She's 37 and feels that she doesn't have any reason not to go for it even if he has a wife and kid. She was really laying it on thick. It's a shame that some women really do think/act like this and she is really hung up on him.Eventually, she uses her life experiences to finish her novel. Eventually writing him off and finally starting fresh.
Patton Oswalt stars as Matt "The Hate Crime Kid" an old classmate who is aware of her plans and tries to keep her grounded in reality. That is until he sleeps with her after her very public meltdown.
Seriously, he just took advantage of a mentally unstable woman and we're okay with this because he's a love sick nerd? Or because she was has low self-esteem? I don't know how to feel, but I don't like it either way.
This movie is an instructional guide on how not to live your life.
She's aimless, unscrupulous, and worst of all, she wears Uggs. UGGS!! (Unforgivable!)
Best contribution of the film: "KenTacoHut" a.k.a. KFC + Taco Bell + Pizza Hut in the same location. Genius.
I guess it's better to leave things in the past. Like this movie.
